SabinaBeads

Mijn nieuwe verslaving was begonnen.

Fabrics, sewing machines, drawings, a mountain of creativity has passed through my life since I was a teenager. From home there has always been inventiveness in the family where I grew up. There were solutions for a lot of things or something was invented. And I'm mainly talking about what had to be made by hand. From paintings to renovating, a lot came by. I can't even imagine a life without creativity and handcraft. Years later, when I followed a beading workshop in fall of 2014 (I was 44 years young at the time), I knew I wanted more. Before it was 2015, I had my own torch. My new addiction had begun.

Nice to meet you, my name is Sabina.

Inspiratie/Inspiration

Inspired by the colors which nature is offering us. Inspired by the seasons in a year, by organic shapes flora and fauna and inspired by the sea, which is so close to my home. But also from the things I experience and encounter in daily life.

Mijn werkruimte/My studio

Mijn studio is gevestigd in Kapelle, een klein dorpje in de provincie Zeeland, in Nederland.

In mijn atelier staan twee branders.

My studio is located in Kapelle, which is a small village in the province Zeeland, in the Netherlands.

My studio contains two torches. The Bethlehem Alpha and the Bravo. My two kilns (Paragon), to release stress in the glass.

The glass mostly used is Effetre – Reichenbach – CIM – Ornela – Double Helix and sometimes boro.  A favorite technique of mine is the implosion. You need a lot of stringers (very thin rods of glass) for that, so that means I make a lot of them. I organize them by putting them in glass cups. And actually they're standing everywhere, so I can always grab them.

The studio is an organized chaos, well familiar to most creative people 😉.

Every single piece is made with love and care. Destined to be worn by everyone who shares my inspiration and do appreciate handcrafted pieces of art.
